Why Wax?

Waxing is one of the best methods of temporary hair removal.  It is more effective than shaving and depilatory creams because it removes the entire hair from the root, not just from the surface of the skin, skin is left very smooth and lasts longer. Over time, and with repeated waxing, unwanted hair grows back finer, slower and sparser.

Waxing is great for those who are tired of the hassle of shaving daily to several times per week, want longer periods of hairlessness, prefer to feel smooth without the stubble feel and be free of the post shaving itch. Being hair free can provide a fresh clean feeling , improve body odor, have increased sensitivity in intimate areas, has sport related benefits for swimmers,  athletes, and cyclists and enhance muscle tone for the average person or those in the sport of weightlifting and physique competitors.Whether it be for going to the beach, feeling more confident, hygiene, because it is sexy, there are many reasons to get waxed.

What sanitation precautions do you take?

We are a professional waxing salon so we are serious when it comes to sanitation. Your safety is our main concern! Here are some of the precautions we take and why:

We NEVER use the same wax applicator twice. We never double dip, once the wax and applicator comes in contact with a client, it is thrown away and NEVER gets dipped back into the wax container. We use a new applicator each and every time we apply wax to your skin. This is the ONLY way to assure our wax will NEVER become contaminated.

We always wear special synthetic gloves. We use disposable gloves that are resistant to rips/tears and are discarded after each client. This is to protect you from anything unsanitary coming in contact with your skin. Especially in sensitive areas. This allows us to conduct your waxing in a safe environment.

We use sanitary bed coverings and modesty towelsEach and every client gets a fresh, clean sanitary bed covering, including disposible table paper, and modesty towel to minimize any chance of cross contamination between clients.

We sanitize tweezers, scissors, clippers and other tools. Before any tool touches your body, it is sanitized in an EPA approved sanitizer to eliminate any chance of cross contamination. After sanitization, implements are stored in covered containers.

We sanitize all hard surfaces, beds, chairs and equipment.  Chairs, beds, counters, and equipment are wiped down with hospital grade disinfectants between clients to eliminate chances of contamination.

Proper sanitation between body parts. We sanitize the area that is to be waxed before every service.

We never compromise our sanitation procedures for your protection!

Will you be discrete and respect my privacy?

Absolutely and without question! Absolute discretion, privacy and confidentiality is guaranteed at all times with all clients.  We do not “gossip” about our clients inside or outside of BareWAXX!

Will waxing make my hair grow back thicker, stronger or darker? Absolutely not, re-growth will be finer, thinner and slower in areas that are waxed on a regular basis. The only things known to stimulate hair growth are hormones: natural or artificial.

Who can receive a wax service?

Almost anyone with unwanted hair! We welcome clients of all shapes, sizes and amounts of hair. We are professionals, it makes no difference to us whether you are male or female, have a little or a lot of hair, are bigger, smaller, thick, thin, tall, short, muscular, voluptuous etc, we want to make you feel comfortable, relaxed and happy with the service we are providing, were not here to judge. We know you will love the results from professional hair removal services and encourage all clients to experience the benefits of waxing.

Can I wax during pregnancy?

It is normally perfectly safe to wax during pregnancy. You may experience an increase in sensitivity during and after a wax treatment.  Many clients enjoy being hair free for delivery and also find it easier and more hygienic post birth, during healing and aftercare. We always recommend that you consult with your doctor prior to your first visit and inform your waxing specialist should any medical changes occur throughout.

What could prevent me from waxing?

You should not wax if you are:

Taking medications such as: Accutane/isotretinoin, (currently or in the past 12 months), Retin-A , tetracycline, Trentinoin, or any other medical grade topical acne medication (in past 3 months)
Using a steroid cream or other keratolytic medications, that thin the skin       (currently or in the last 3 months)

All of these products listed above, thin out and weaken the skin making you more sensitive and increase your risk of skin lifting with the wax.

Have sunburn/windburn skin or recovering from a burn (you will need to wait until your skin has completely healed)..
Areas with varicose veins, hairy/raised moles, cuts, bruises, chaffed/broken skin, warts cannot be waxed over and will need to be avoided and waxed around.
Consult your GP if you have diabetes or circulatory problems, peripheral artery disease, peripheral neuropathy before being waxed.

If in doubt, please call or message us for a chat!

Feeling Shy?

Please do not feel intimidated, embarrassed or shy. Please keep in mind that what might seem personal to you is routine for us. We are professionals and  honestly we are not looking at “you”, we are looking at your hair, we really are concentrated on what we need to do, how we need to do it and helping you feel as comfortable as we can. Waxing is all we do, so we see “private areas" all day, everyday, and are very comfortably “blind” to seeing the part itself. We wax people of all different sizes, body types and amounts of hair without judgment!! Because we are so comfortable it helps us to help you feel comfortable.

How long does my hair have to be?

You will want to schedule a service when you have let your hair grow for at least 3 weeks after a shave or 4 weeks after a wax. That goes for everything: brows to Brazilians. It is important that hair be long enough, wax needs to be able to grip the hair for removal and cannot do so if the hair is too short. If your hair is too short, you will have to reschedule your appointment.

We recommend that you trim/shave your hair to the skin 3 weeks prior to your appointment and do not "touch up" during the growing out phase.

How long will waxing last?

Typically, 2-4 weeks, how fast you produce a hair is different for every person and can be affected by hormones, genetics, medications, age, or medical conditions. Waxing at regular intervals will give you the longest hair free results.

Will I be completely smooth after waxing?

Most clients are smooth after their first wax, however you may experience a little bit of stubble with your first couple of waxes.  We find this happens most commonly with clients that shave, have course hair, with leg waxing and growth that is under 3 weeks after a shave.  Your hair grows in 3 cycles, each lasting about 28 days, it takes a few waxes to normalize and syncronize hair growth so that your hair is long enough to be grabbed entirely by the wax which will allow you to experience a great wax (staying hair free longer, being the smoothest, having less irritation and the least amount of discomfort). This generally takes three wax appointments four weeks apart and absolutely no shaving in between appointments.

Does it hurt?

Waxing will have some momentary discomfort, it is not long lasting.  When we are removing the wax you will feel a sting/bite, then it quickly disapates.  Pain tolerance is very individual but our quality wax and professional technique will make all the difference. With regular repeat visits, the discomfort is greatly reduced after your first wax as the hair follicle weakens, hair becomes more sparse and more fine.

No need to be fearful, you are always in control of your comfort level. Our main concern is you!

What kind of wax do you use?

Wax is our business,  and we are serious about our wax. We have chosen a high quality efficient wax for our services. All of our waxes are heated to a warm temperature (close to body temperature) for client safety.  To learn more about our waxes click on "waxing advise" on the sidebar.

How long will my wax session take?

Sessions usually take from 10-60 minutes, depending on the hair growth and the clients comfort level during the waxing. The first time is the longest, then the monthly upkeep is much faster.  We allow our Estheticians the time to go at the clients pace, to ensure their comfort level is bearable at all times.

Can I shave between waxing appointments?

No, not if you want the full benefits of waxing. Please do not shave between waxing appointments! The more you shave hair, the thicker and tougher they become and more painful to remove. Shaving cuts the hair at the base (the base of the hair is always thicker) and when the hair grows the base effectively becomes the new tip make it thicker and more difficult and painful to remove. With continuous shaving the hair becomes thicker and takes longer to shed and often two hairs can emerge from the same follicle making the area seem hairy than before. Also if you shave your hair it will most likely be too short for your next scheduled visit and the wax won’t be able to remove it. Shaving just one time in between will reverse all that is gained from waxing and disrupt the synchronization of hair growth cycles that we are trying to achieve.

When should I come in for special occasion waxing? (wedding, vacation, honeymoon, anniversary etc..)

If you’re a bride or attending a special occasion, important event or going on vacation, We recommend receiving waxing services at least 4-12 weeks prior depending on body part you want waxed and how long you want it to last.  Schedule a minimum of 5 weeks before your special day to see how your skin reacts. If everything is fine, reschedule another wax 2-3 days before the event in order to have maximum hair free results! Please call and lets us know what body part you would like waxed and we can set you up on a schedule that will give you the best results.

Is there an age limit for any of the wax services?

Bare Waxx welcomes minors to be waxed, we provide waxing services to minors, however all minors are required to have a signed parental consent prior to all waxing services.

Bare Waxx provides Bikini wax services to clients age 16+.

Parents are required to accompany their minor child on the first visit to receive any waxing service. Minor clients age 16+ may receive waxing services without a parent present after an additional parental consent is on file.

Can I wax during my menstrual cycle?

Absolutely, It doesn't affect us from performing the service, we just ask that you wear a fresh tampon, tuck the string, and freshen up before your service. Clients tend to be more sensitive during this time of month.

Can my partner/spouse/friend/child come into the appointment with me? Can I bring my child to wait in the lounge?

It is our policy to permit only the person receiving the wax treatment in the treatment room. This allows us to give the safest and most professional wax service without distractions. We have a relaxing lounge area where your guest(s) can wait during your wax session.

For safety reasons a child needing adult supervision cannot be left in the lounge area to wait while a service is being performed.

Exception: Only parents of minor children are permitted and sometimes required to accompany their children in the treatment room for the wax service.

I'm worried I'll get aroused during my Brazilian/Bikini wax service?

This is a very common concern, from both men and women. Don’t worry or feel embarrassed. A degree of arousal is common when someone is working in the genital area. It has little to do with sexual arousal but more of a physical response. Once the waxing begins the sensation quickly passes. Our Estheticians are always professional and have been trained on such situations and will proceed with the wax service, we are not concerned with the arousal itself but more on how you are conducting yourself, we offer hair removal services and not anything else . We are licensed professionals and conduct ourselves in a professional manner.  You can expect our estheticians to treat you with respect and in return we expect our estheticians to be treated with respect.

Please be aware that any inappropriate remarks, or advances made by clients will result in ending the service immediately. Full fee will be charged for the service and possible involvement of authorities.

What exactly gets removed in each area of service? Not exactly sure what service I am looking to have done…”

Please refer to our Female and Male Service Menu for the differences and descriptions of our wax services. It is here you will find information about what area is waxed with each service, If you are unsure of what service you would like to have done, feel free to discuss it with your Esthetician so we can book the proper amount of time for the appointment.
